This week we were delighted, as I’m sure you were, to see the sunshine and feel a little warmer. In school, this meant learning outside was even more fun. It was great to see so many class lessons taking place in the playgrounds, garden and wider community, with children have been out and about applying their literacy and numeracy skills. This included role-play farms, planting, visits to Lidl/Queens Gardens for sandwich production (and eating), using outdoor reading zones, understanding refugee experiences and estimating and measuring time.

It was also great to see the children making creative use of the new front yard materials. There were some hiccups/learning opportunities as we all find the right risk/benefit balance in enriched play experiences. We will continue to monitor our provision for this vital child development area.

Next week, we will be sending out details regarding the Summer Holiday Food and Fun Project. This is the first time we have offered this service which will run for the first three weeks of the summer holidays. There will be a maximum of forty places available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so make sure you look out for the communication next week.

We continue to be aware of many families experiencing a variety of difficulties. Please remember that the Family Centre is there to help support and advise – for further information see below. It is always best to reach out for support sooner rather than later. Should you have any immediate safeguarding concerns, our Designated Safeguarding Persons (DSPs) are Mr Wilkinson and Mrs Pritchard. We are always ready to help in whatever way we can.

Attendance this week was 93.3%. Let’s all keep up the effort, as every day counts.
