This week, forty two children have started their new jobs making our school better. They were elected by their classmates as representatives on Cyngor Ysgol (School Council), Criw Cymraeg and Criw Eco. If they do their jobs well, school will be a happier learning place, where we speak and hear more Cymraeg and cause less harm to our planet. These responsibilities are significant but I know the children are looking forward to the challenge. When they stood before the rest of the school, in assembly, they looked very proud.
In amongst the every day learning there’s been a few highlights. Firstly, we hope you were not startled by the ambulance parked outside school on Thursday – luckily this was a parent sharing her experiences of being a paramedic with children in Years 1, 2 and 6. (During a sudden, unexpected, rain shower, the kitchen staff were amazed to see how many children could shelter in the back of an ambulance!) Another highlight was PE and Maths learning outside in what may be the last of the warm sunshine. However, Nursery and Playgroup will not have to worry about the weather. This week we had a new canopy installed, at the side of the classroom, which means they will learn outdoors without getting wet. (If you look closely at the gallery above, you may spot some Nursery children helping with the building work) Finally, we have been celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight with some fantastic art activities.
We are delighted that so many children are taking the opportunity to have a healthy breakfast with us every morning. Please remember this is available to all children from Reception to Year 6.
Another opportunity for children in Years 3-6 is to take up learning a musical instrument. For further information on what is available and to make a booking click this link Conwy Music Co-operative | A new vision for music provision in Conwy
