We ended the week, in assembly, with our Welsh prayer, which includes the line ‘diolch am yr haul a glaw’. As we prayed, through the hall windows, both sun and rain could be seen battling it out. All weather is beautiful but it makes trips and outdoor learning easier if it’s not wild, wet and cold. Luckily, this week despite the mixed weather , most pupils had a great time outside.
Years 3 and 4 had the biggest adventure, as they went by train to lay siege to Conwy Castle. I guess the take-over was unsuccessful as both classes were back by home time. However, I know they had a great time, learnt a lot and behaved really well because everyone was smiling and eager to talk about it, when they got back.
Other classes were out and about too, with several visits to the library. The school is so grateful to the dedicated staff in Colwyn Bay Library who help to foster a lifelong love of books and reading, It is vital that we make maximum use of our library at a time when so many services for young people are under threat.
Our youngest classes were also exploring the wonders of Colwyn Bay as they visited a damp Queen’s Gardens. There’s not many happier sites than a class full of small people’s wellies in puddles!
It wasn’t all learning outdoors, mind., as we continue to make great use of digital software to enhance both our faith learning and our artistic skills. I’ll let you match the pictures above to those two references (and to Google ‘Arcimboldo’)!
We’ve also been doing a LOT of writing but that doesn’t make for such good pictures. However, we will share more news on this next week.
Finally, attendance was better this week – I think Year 3 were 98%! Thank you to anyone everyone who helped.
