Well, it’s been busy this week!
‘Normal Monday Assembly’ was interrupted, as we got the call from ESTYN who are responsible for inspecting schools in Wales. As you are aware, they will be visiting from Monday 29th June until Wednesday 1st July, when we all hope to show the best of St Joseph’s. If you haven’t already done so, please take time to complete the Parents Survey by clicking this link. Also, if you are able, please come along to the inspectors’ meeting with parents on Monday 29th June at 3.30pm in the school hall.
On Wednesday the weather was favourable and we enjoyed our Sports Day. The children competed really well and there was fabulous support from parents, carers and families. As usual, the children displayed boundless energy but some grown-ups were starting to feel their age as they heaved chairs and equipment around in the summer sun!
On Thursday, we welcomed new parents of children who will be starting in our Nursery and Reception classes in September to our Open Morning. This was another well attended event where parents took the opportunity to meet key staff and our Chair of Governors, ask questions, see the classrooms in action, talk to staff from the Colwyn Bay Family Centre and Education Social Work Service and enjoy chat and refreshments with other parents. It was wonderful to meet some parents just starting out on their journey in our community. It is always in striking contrast to other parents whose youngest will be leaving Year 6 in a few weeks after many, many years with us. Time in school passes very quickly.
Finally, if your child has a talent, please make sure you send in a video so they can be considered for ‘St Jo’s Got Talent’. Entries must be in by Friday 26th June. It could be anything (not limited to singing, dancing or playing an instrument) and can involve siblings and friends together. (I did warn the children today that if we didn’t get enough videos sent in I would be forced to enter!)
