At our school, we believe that home learning is an important extension of the classroom, helping children build independent study habits and reinforcing their skills. We offer a variety of resources to support students and parents, including educational websites, interactive tools, and downloadable materials. These resources are designed to be engaging and accessible, providing students with opportunities to practice and explore topics in a fun and supportive way. Below, you’ll find links to key home learning tools we recommend.
Accelerated Reader is a reading programme we use with pupils in Year 3 to Year 6. Pupils can log in and select ‘Accelerated Reader’. This will take them to a platform which allows them to type in the name of the book they have just finished. If this book is in the Accelerated Reader system, it will allow them to take a comprehension quiz on the text. The more quizzes they take the more points they accumulate and pupils will develop their comprehension skills and confidence.
All pupils have a username and password. If you need another copy of these details, please ask your child’s class teacher.
MyOn is another reading platform we use at St. Joseph’s to encourage children to engage with reading. Pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 can log into our school account using the school name St Joseph’s R.C. Primary School and then entering their Accelerated Reader username and password. When logged in, pupils can access an online library consisting of wide variety of texts in the form of e-books. Pupils can read or listen to the stories and take the quiz linked to each text in order to boost their reading points.
Again, all pupils in Y3-Y6 have logins for MyOn. Please request from class teacher if you need them again.
Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) is an online platform we use for pupils in Year 3-Year 6 to help develop their times table knowledge.
Pupils can login using the school postcode: LL29 7UU and then enter in their username and password to access the site.
When in, pupils can select which mode to play and select which level. Pupils gain rock star coins for speed and completion of sums and these can be spent within the site on rock star merchandise.
