Welcome back to school. As usual, it has been a busy first week.

Firstly, thank you to everyone for your support of our Big Lent Walk. We came together as a community, had fun and raised lots of money for those in need.

This week Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have participated in the Eirias Cluster Eisteddfod. We sang songs and recited poems, individually and in groups. We were delighted to come away with a number of 1st place winners in both group and individual competitions. Da iawn pawb.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Magic Light Productions to Years 3 and 4 for a puppet making workshop. This opportunity was linked to the new statue being installed on the promenade, in memory of Monty Python’s Terry Jones. The children were really good and created some fantastic puppets.

Today, Years 1 and 2 have been swimming for the first time. Whilst some will have been with families, this was a very new and exciting/challenging experience for many. Living as we do, so close to the sea, this life skill is vital.

If you are new to the school or been with us for some time, please consider getting involved with our school PTA. They need your help as there are low numbers of volunteers. As you all know, budgets are tight and they raise invaluable money to purchase vital additional resources. They also keep our uniform store going and most importantly organise events that bring us together as a school/parish community. They and we need you.

You will have noticed some work taking place on our main gate. We hope the changes, which are not quite complete, will continue to keep everyone safe, whilst reducing the amount of exercise for the gatekeeper(s)! On the subject of safety, please continue to closely monitor what your child is accessing online. As you are aware there are many risks for young people who have unmonitored access to the internet. In school we have a robust filter system, which sends reports on any user who attempts to access something considered inappropriate.

Finally, thank you for your continued efforts with getting your child to school everyday. Our overall attendance, so far this year, is just over 93%. This is 2% higher than this time last year, which is great, but there is still room for improvement.
